Anatomy of a Peanut

The idea is to create a synthesis of the peanut, showing it's anatomy dissected into a 10 second animation. The project explores the structure and characteristics of each part.

The shape of the pod was created after studying the way in which the beans are positioned inside it, diverging from the more typical hourglass shape. This way, the shell takes form around the beans, giving emphasis to it's function of protecting the seed.
The palette uses a range of brown to mustard yellow to represent all the constituents of the peanut and warm colors for the background, inspired by the roasty taste of the fruit.

The three layers of the shell are shown separately: the esocarp, the mesocarp and the endocarp.

The narrative starts with peanut butter, the most popular use of the peanut, working backwards from there and ending with a complete peanut fruit.
